June 2026 Running Round-Up: Triathlon Podiums, Ultra Grit, and a Club Record Mile

June was a month that showed real range – a triathlon podium, two brutal finishes at one of the world’s toughest ultras, a run of strong track performances in the heat, and a club record to top it all off. Here is the full round-up.

Izzy Gelder – Chester Olympic Distance Triathlon | June 2026

Huge congratulations to Izzy on a 3rd place finish at the Chester Olympic Distance Triathlon on 7th June, clocking a brilliant 2:21:38.

A really strong swim and a solid bike set things up perfectly, before Izzy finished super strongly on the run to seal the podium spot. What a lot of people might not know is that Izzy has been completely flat to the mat over the past year, juggling training with completing her MArch – and on top of that, she won the best portfolio prize for her entire cohort. Proof that her talents extend way beyond the finish line. Such a fantastic, well-rounded achievement, and so brilliant to see it all coming together. So proud of you, Izzy.

Marc Cohen & Tanya Cohen – Comrades Marathon | June 2026

What a way to spend a Sunday. Marc and Tanya both crossed the finish line at one of the world’s most iconic ultras – the Comrades Marathon. 85.78km, over 1800m of climbing, and another year of brutal South African heat.

Marc came home in 8:19:07 and Tanya in 11:26:56 – two very different races, both requiring the same extraordinary grit to see it through to the end. Comrades has a way of breaking people. These two did not let it. Massive congratulations to you both.

Elise Brockhurst – Highgate Harriers LDN 5000m | June 2026

What a setting to race in. The Highgate Harriers LDN 5000m is always a special event, and this edition did not disappoint – hot, windy, and sharing a race card with Olympians. No better motivation to dig deep.

Elise ran a really strong 5000m, clocking 21:05 in tough conditions. Racing in that kind of heat and wind takes real grit, and Elise showed exactly that. More to come this season.

Nick Grobler – Highgate Harriers LDN 5000m | June 2026

Hot conditions, a strong headwind, and Olympians warming up in the same venue – not a bad Friday at the track.

Nick delivered a really solid 5000m at the Highgate Harriers LDN meeting, finishing in 17:18. Conditions were far from easy, but Nick handled them well and came away with a performance to build on. Onwards and upwards from here.

Julia Kelk – Highgate Harriers LDN 5000m | June 2026

Track season is well and truly here. The Highgate Harriers LDN 5000m was a fantastic event – hot, breezy, and buzzing with some serious talent on the track later in the day.

Julia put in a great run to clock 20:45 in those conditions. Wind and heat are no joke when you are racing, and Julia held strong throughout. Really proud of that effort, with exciting things ahead this season.

Rebecca Taylor – Golden Stag Mile | June 2026

Great racing from Rebecca at the Golden Stag Mile – a fun evening of mile races at Finsbury Park Track, organised by Barnet and District.

Rebecca came away with a solid 6:13 on a warm summer’s evening. Brilliant to see her out on the track and racing hard.

Izzy Gelder – Golden Stag Mile | June 2026

Club record. Izzy brought her A-game to the Golden Stag Mile at Finsbury Park Track, clocking 5:18 to run a PB and lower the Mornington Chasers club record for the mile.

An incredible run on a brilliant evening of racing organised by Barnet and District. So proud of this one.
